STRINGTELLIGENCE – STRING SECRETS TO OPTIMIZE YOUR PERFORMANCE.

Talk with Dipl.-Ingenieur Bernhard Rieger (Thomastik-Infeld GmbH)

Details

Musical Strings have an essential impact on an instrument’s performance and their importance is usually underestimated. They are a direct “translator” between the players hands and the instruments response and literally connect both – technically and also musically. When searching for “the ideal” setup, strings can inspire the musician for a full artistic expression or also can limit it. When we carefully choose them from the big variety of options, a rich balance between so many – also contradictory – aspects of sound, projection and playing feel can be found. Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Bernhard Rieger (Thomastik-Infeld GmbH, Wien) will give an insight in numerous string secrets that can help to orientate musicians personal search and optimize their performance.

During his final diploma year, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Bernhard Rieger has worked for AKG Microphones / Headphones. Since the he is working for over 20 years as product developer at Thomastik-Infeld GmbH and specialized on cello and double bass strings. Since having finished his double-bass studies with excellence at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Bernhard Rieger has been invited as guest-player in Viennas top orchestras. He is working daily with musicians of various levels to guide them to find their personal ideal string set up. Recently he took over the String Developers team at Thomastik-Infeld as Director of String Development.
